339.12 DISTANCE BETWEEN TRUCKS.
(a) No operator of a truck, trailer or semitrailer shall operate the same so that there is less than 300 feet between it and any truck, trailer or semitrailer ahead, except when the truck ahead is stopped by a traffic control signal or by a police officer. For the purpose of this section, the words truck, trailer and semitrailer mean every motor vehicle designed and used for the carrying of property wherein the overall length of such vehicle, including a trailer, if any, is in excess of twenty feet, or any truck tractor.

(b) Whoever violates any provision of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor on a first offense; on a second offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree; on each subsequent offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree.
