(A) The Police Department shall consist of the Chief of Police, the Assistant Chief of Police, captains of police, sergeants, and officers, who shall be under the general direction of the Chief of Police, and of the Board of Public Works and Safety.
(B) The Department shall also consist of the number of police officers and ordinance enforcement officers as may be determined from time to time by the Board of Public Works and Safety. The city's ordinance enforcement officers shall have the power and authority to investigate, issue citations for, and accumulate and present evidence concerning, violations of the provisions of this Code and IC 9-1-22.
(C) Hereafter, eight hours shall constitute a day's work in this Department, and 40 hours in any one week, except in case of public emergency.
(D) As is applicable, the salaries, including longevity pay, of the Chief of Police, the Assistant Chief of Police, captains of police, sergeants, and all other personnel in the Police Department shall be from time to time set by the Board of Public Works and Safety, but within the appropriation fixed by the Common Council.
(E) Police officers shall receive $20 for each day during which they are called in from off duty to appear in court.
