One convicted of violating the building codes shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be subject to penalty as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code. Each day of violation may be considered a separate offense under the building codes and the fine and/or imprisonment set forth in section 1-4-1 of this code may be imposed for each such offense.
