There is hereby created a plan commission which shall consist of five (5) members including one member to serve as chair, to be appointed by the village president, with the approval of the board of trustees. The members shall serve for a term of two (2) years or until a successor is appointed. (1985 Code § 2-5-1)
The plan commission shall have the following powers and duties:
A. To prepare and recommend to the corporate authorities a comprehensive plan for the present or future development or redevelopment of the community;
B. To recommend changes, from time to time, in the official comprehensive plan;
C. To prepare and recommend to the corporate authorities from time to time, plans for specific improvements in pursuance of the official comprehensive plan;
D. To aid municipal officials in furthering the interpretation of the plan; and
E. To exercise such other powers as may be conferred by the corporate authorities. (1985 Code § 2-5-2)
Each member of the plan commission who attends a meeting shall be paid the sum of one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each meeting. However, in no case shall any member who is also a member of the zoning board of appeals receive duplicate fees for attending a plan commission meeting when such meeting falls on the same day as a meeting of the zoning board of appeals.
