§ 301. Definitions.
The following words and phrases when used in this Part, shall have the meaning ascribed to them in this Section unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. Also, personal pronouns shall include the singular as well as the plural number and the male, female and neuter gender.
   CONTAINER - a container of any material of five (5) gallons (18.9 liters) capacity or larger and any compressed gas cylinder of any size.
      D.O.T. EMERGENCY RESPONSE GUIDEBOOK - the publication by the United States Department of Transportation #P5800.5 (1990 and all succeeding editions) identifying hazardous materials and proper first response emergency action.
      D.O.T. NUMBER - the identifying number for a material listed in the D.O.T. Emergency Response Book.
   HAZARDOUS MATERIAL LABEL - a label or placard identifying a hazardous material designed in accordance with the NFPA 704 Identification System which also designates the D.O.T. Number and the name of material. The name of material shall be placed above the flammability number at the top of the diamond shape of the label and the D.O.T. number shall be placed at the bottom of the diamond.
   HAZARDOUS MATERIAL - any chemical, liquid, gas, volatile solid or other substance listed in NFPA 49, NFPA 325M or D.O.T. Emergency Response Guidebook.
   HAZARDOUS MATERIAL STORAGE - the presence, in one (1) location of hazardous materials of fifty (50) gallons liquid measure, five hundred (500) pounds dry measure or thirty (30) pounds compressed gasses.
   NFPA 49 - the publication of the National Fire Protection Association (1991 and succeeding editions) identifying hazardous chemicals.
   NFPA 325M - the publication of the National Fire Protection Association, (1991 and succeeding editions) identifying flammable liquids, gases, and volatile solids.
   NFPA 704 IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM - the publication of the National Fire Protection Association describing a standard system for the identification of the fire hazards of materials.
   NAME OF MATERIAL - the name of a substance as identified in the D.O.T. Emergency Response Guidebook.
   PERSON - any person, firm, corporation, partnership, joint venture or other entity.
   RAPID ENTRY SYSTEM - the emergency response entry system required by § 1023.1 of the Building Code of Hanover Township.
