1. At times it is necessary to discipline a Township employee in order to maintain an orderly and efficient Township operation, one which will be healthy and safe for all employees and will ensure the Township's good reputation and protect its property. Failure to obey these rules will subject the violating Township employee to disciplinary action up to and including discharge. The Township intends to enforce them fairly. When discipline is to be taken against an employee, the Township will consider the seriousness of the action, the employee's past conduct record, and the circumstances under which the violation occurred. If the Township employee has a question concerning these work rules, he may discuss them with the Township Manager.
A. The Township employee must be at his appointed work place, ready to work at his regular starting time and must remain there, except during lunch periods, until the regular quitting time.
B. The Township employee shall not conduct any personal business during working hours.
C. The following are grounds for immediate dismissal:
(1) Bringing weapons, intoxicating liquors or illegal drugs onto the Township premises.
(2) Fighting
(3) Smoking in unauthorized areas.
(4) Discarding matches or cigarettes carelessly.
(5) Littering work areas.
(6) Falsification of records and reports.
(7) Making or stating false claims of injury.
(8) Violation of safety rules or taking part in any activity which may result or create a safety hazard to himself or others.
(9) Removing Township property, records or other materials without the permission of the Township Manager.
(10) Misusing or damaging Township property.
(11) Horseplay
(12) Gambling
(13) Unexcused lateness or excessive absence.
(14) Immoral conduct or indecency.
(15) Refusal to follow orders of the Township employee's supervisor.
(16) Sleeping on the job.
(17) Reporting to work in an unfit physical condition or in an intoxicated state.
(18) Using profane or abusive language.
(19) Failure to wear safety equipment or to use safety devices.
(20) Failure to be responsible for all Township tools, equipment, or property assigned or requisitioned to you or in your care.
(21) Conduct damaging to the Township's reputation or ability to provide public service.
(22) Failure to report any injury or accident immediately.
(23) Failure to notify in writing to the Township Manager of any change in the Township employee's personal data.
(24) Soliciting, petitioning or distribution of any kind, without written permission of the Township Manager.
(25) Accepting a gift when given under circumstances indicating the hope or expectation of receiving a favor or better treatment than is generally provided to the public.
(26) Actively participating in political activities during the Township employee's working hours.
(27) Discourteous behavior to the public.
(28) Posting of notices without authorization from the Township employee's supervisor.
(29) Disclosing confidential information.
(30) Misuse of the Township employee's authority.
(31) Failure of the Township employee to perform or neglecting his job, duties and responsibilities.
(32) Failure of the Township employee to report to his supervisor an unexpected illness or absence and to provide the reason(s) for it.
(33) Testing positive under the Township's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program as set forth in subpart D of this Part. [Ord. 324]
(34) Violation of the Township's Drug and Alcohol Policy as set forth in subpart D of this Part. [Ord. 324]
2. These rules and regulations are not meant to be inclusive and when necessary additional rules and regulations may be added by Resolution of Council.
