§ 1-728.   Sick Leave.
   1.   Amount; Accumulation. As a full time salaried employee, the Township employee will earn 1 work day of sick leave for each month worked in a given calendar year up to a total of 12 work days per year, and he may accumulate up to 120 days of sick leave. The Township employee will be given credit for a full month worked if he has worked at least 15 days in that month. Vacation time and holidays shall count as days worked for the purpose of sick leave. Accumulated sick time is not payable to the employee at termination of employment (including retirement).
   2.   Requesting Sick Leave. When requesting sick leave, the Township employee must, except in unusual or emergency situations, notify the Township Manager before his normal work reporting time. The Township Manager may, if he feels the Township employee is abusing sick leave, require the Township employee to provide a certificate from his doctor stating his illness and his inability to report to work. Sick leave in excess of 5 continuous work days requires a doctor's certificate stating that the Township employee is fit to return to work.
   3.   Abuse of Benefit. Patterns of sick leave usage that indicate abuse of this benefit will be subject to review by the Township Manager.
