§ 1-726.   Vacation.
   1.   Amount of Vacation Time. The amount of paid vacation time will depend on the length of service the Township employee has with the Township.
      A.   Except as provided in (B), the Township employee will not be eligible for vacation until he has completed 1 year of continuous service with the Township and his vacation must be taken in groups of at least 5 days or at the discretion of the Township Manager. The following is the amount of vacation accrued after so many years of service:

   2.   Accumulation of Vacation Time. Any vacation the Township employee has earned should be taken in the 1-year period between the anniversary date on which he became entitled to the vacation and his succeeding anniversary date. Commencing in the year 2002, Township employees will not be permitted to carry over vacation time into the next year. Any unused vacation at the end of a given calendar year will be paid to the employee at the time of the last payroll of the year. [Ord. 413]
   3.   Scheduling. Approval for the scheduling of vacations rests with the Township Manager, who will, in making his decision, take into account your performance as well as the efficient management of the work force. If a vacation is taken during a week which contains a paid holiday, one additional day vacation will be given in all circumstances.
   4.   Unused Time. If the Township employee terminates his employment and has unused vacation time, he will be compensated for it, but he must give at least 2 weeks notice of his intended termination. Formula for compensation of vacation at termination: number of days entitled per year divided by 12 (months per year), times the number of full months worked.
   5.   Emergency Recall. It is hoped it will never be necessary, but unusual or emergency situations may require the Township Manager or Maintenance Supervisor to recall the Township employee to work during his scheduled vacation. If this happens, the Township employee will be compensated at overtime pay at 1½ times your hourly rate. Arrangements as to the scheduling of the remainder of your vacation will be made.
