1. Overtime Pay. At times there may be unexpected or emergency situations which may require the Township employee to work in excess of eight 8 hours in 1 day or 40 hours in 1 week. When this occurs, hourly and non-exempt salary employees will be compensated for overtime pay at 1½ times your hourly rate. Because the Township employee's job directly affects the operation of the local government or the quality of service the public receives, he will be expected to work overtime when asked. Refusal to work overtime could result in disciplinary action.
2. Comp Time. Full time (non-office) employees shall have the option of accumulating comp time for overtime hours in lieu of payment of wages for the same. Comp time shall accrue
at a rate of 1.5 times the number of overtime hours worked. Accumulated comp time hours may be used for paid time off. Requests for compensatory time off must be made to the Maintenance Supervisor in advance and will be approved unless to do so would be unduly disruptive to Township operations. Comp time hours not used by the end of a calendar year will be paid out to the employee at their hourly rate. In the event of retirement or other termination of employment, unused comp time hours will be paid out with the final paycheck.
