§ 48-3. Sick leave.
   A.   Unless designated by individual, bargaining unit or union employment contract, all full-time officers or employees of the Town of Hammonton, whether classified or unclassified under Title 11, shall be entitled to sick leave and pay of not less than one working day for each month of service during the remainder of the first calendar year of service following appointment and 15 working days in each calendar year thereafter. Such sick leave shall be accumulative.

   B.   Sick days may be used pursuant to § 48-3A et seq., subject to the following requirements:

      (1)   A sick certificate must be obtained at the employee's own expense from a licensed practicing physician and given to the Town Clerk/Administrator if five sick days in a row are used or if 10 sick days are used in any given year. If any employee uses more than 10 sick days, a certificate must be obtained for each day taken.
      (2)   Sick days may be used by an employee for an immediate family member, as defined in § 48-6. The same requirements outlined in the aforementioned section are applicable. The employee must obtain the approval of the Mayor and Council on recommendation of his/her department head.
      (3)   A sick certificate must also be obtained at the employee’s own expense from a licensed practicing physician every 14 days during an extended period (30 days or more) of sick leave.
