§ 37.025 PAID HOLIDAYS.
   Employees will be compensated without reporting for work, or at a rate established by the salary ordinance if they must work, as follows.
   (A)   All sworn personnel within the Police Department shall be granted the following holidays.
      (1)   New Year’s Day;
      (2)   Martin Luther King, Jr.’s, Birthday;
      (3)   Lincoln’s Birthday;
      (4)   Washington’s Birthday;
      (5)   Good Friday;
      (6)   Memorial Day;
      (7)   Flag Day;
      (8)   Independence Day;
      (9)   Labor Day;
      (10)   Columbus Day;
      (11)   Veteran’s Day;
      (12)   Thanksgiving Day; and
      (13)   Christmas Day.
   (B)   Fire Department personnel.
      (1)   Holidays granted. The following, or their agreed substitutions, shall be designated as paid holidays for purposes of holiday pay. Saturday and Sundays do not constitute time in which overtime or holiday pay shall be paid unless a holiday falls on that Saturday or Sunday.All sworn personnel within the Fire Department shall be granted the following holidays:
         (a)   New Year’s Day;
         (b)   Martin Luther King, Jr.’s, Birthday;
         (c)   President’s Day;
         (d)   Easter Sunday;
         (e)   Memorial Day;
         (f)   Independence Day;
         (g)   Labor Day;
         (h)   Columbus Day;
         (i)   Veteran’s Day;
         (j)   Thanksgiving;
         (k)   Christmas Eve;
         (l)   Christmas Day; and
         (m)   New Year’s Eve.
      (2)   Holiday overtime pay. No additional compensation shall be given for working Saturday or Sunday. Firefighters working any scheduled holiday shall be paid at the rate of 1½ times his or her normal salary.
      (3)   Conditions.
         (a)   Any member off duty on paid sick leave shall not be entitled to holiday pay.
         (b)   Any member off duty on bereavement leave shall not be entitled to holiday pay.
         (c)   Any member whose normal duty day falls on a scheduled holiday but is on vacation shall be entitled to holiday pay at the rate of $100 for working 16 hours of a holiday and $50 for working 8 hours of a holiday.
   (C)   All employees who are members of the Teamsters’ Union shall be granted the following holidays.
      (1)   New Year’s Day;
      (2)   Martin Luther King’s Birthday;
      (3)   Washington’s Birthday;
      (4)   Good Friday;
      (5)   Memorial Day;
      (6)   Independence Day;
      (7)   Labor Day;
      (8)   Veteran’s Day;
      (9)   Thanksgiving Day;
      (10)   Friday after Thanksgiving;
      (11)   Christmas Day; and
      (12)   New Year’s Eve.
   (D)   All employees who are not covered by divisions (A), (B) and (C) above shall be granted the following holidays.
      (1)   New Year’s Day;
      (2)   Martin Luther King, Jr.’s, Birthday;
      (3)   President’s Day;
      (4)   Good Friday;
      (5)   Memorial Day;
      (6)   Independence Day;
      (7)   Labor Day;
      (8)   Columbus Day;
      (9)   Veterans Day;
      (10)   Thanksgiving Day;
      (11)   Friday after Thanksgiving;
      (12)   One-half day Christmas Eve;
      (13)   Christmas Day; and
      (14)   One-half day New Year’s Eve.
   (E)   When any city holiday established by any ordinance of the city comes on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be the city holiday. When any city holiday comes on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be a city holiday.
