181.10 DEFINITIONS.

   For the purpose of Sections 181.09 to 181.11 inclusive, the following terms are defined as follows:

   (a)    "Active employee" means an employee of the City who is engaged in active employment with the City on the effective date of this section and who is acquiring Public Employees Retirement System credit on the effective date of this section.

   (b)    "City" means the City of Hamilton, Ohio.

   (c)    "Metropolitan Retirement Plan" means the annuity plan provided for Public Utility Employees of the City under Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Group Annuity Contract No. 226.

   (d)    "PERS" means the Public Employees Retirement System of the State.

   (e)    "Retired employee" means a former employee of the City who retired from active employment with the City prior to the effective date of this section.

   (f)    "Retroactive membership in PERS" means that membership in the Public Employees Retirement System that can be acquired by a member under Ohio R.C. 145.44 upon withdrawal from the Metropolitan Retirement Plan.

   (g)    "Supplemental retirement benefits" means those benefits provided for in Section 181.11. (Ord. 88-10-90. Passed 10-26-88.)

   (h)    "Full period of employment by the City" means the Public Employment Retirement System service credit acquired as a result of employment by the City exclusive of military or any other service credits purchased by an employee.
