181.05 PAYMENT OF SICK LEAVE UPON NON-DUTY RELATED DEATH.

   Upon the death of a city employee from causes not duty related or associated with his employment, seventy-five percent (75%) of the deceased employee's accumulated sick leave shall be paid to his or her surviving spouse and if the deceased employee leaves no surviving spouse, then to the heirs at law of the deceased employee. For purposes of this benefit the sick leave accumulation shall not exceed a total of 1,200 hours for those whose normal work schedule does not exceed forty hours per week and 1,680 hours for those employees whose average work schedule is fifty-three hours per week.
