177.01 DECLARATION OR ACCEPTANCE OF CANDIDACY.
   No person shall be deemed to have become a candidate for nomination or election to any public office, under the terms of Article XVI of the Charter, until he has filed with the appropriate election authorities a declaration of candidacy as may be required by law, or until he has filed with the appropriate election authorities an acceptance as may be required by law of his candidacy upon the nominating petition filed for him, as the case may be.
