349.06 FEES FOR LOW-SPEED FOR HIRE VEHICLES.
(a) No person shall operate or permit to be operated any vehicle as a low-speed for hire vehicle, or shall proffer the services of such vehicles as a low-speed for hire vehicle by solicitation by voice, sign, public advertisement, light, or otherwise unless the proper license has been issued for the vehicle to the own thereof and is in force.
(b) Every license shall expire on December 31st of the year following the date on which the license was issued. License fees for each low-speed for hire vehicle shall be payable to the City of Hamilton in the following amounts:
(1) One hundred and fifty dollars ($150.00); after June 30th of each year, the amount shall be seventy-five dollars ($75.00).
(c) Any licensee upon payment of any of the above fees, shall be entitled to operate as low-speed for hire vehicle during such year additional vehicles for which low-speed for hire vehicle licenses have been issued and are in effect or which are otherwise licensed for the transportation of persons for hire in the City of Hamilton, upon payment of an additional annual fee of five dollars ($5.00) for each such vehicle; provided the Director of Law is satisfied that the public liability insurance on such vehicle covers.
(d) No transfer of a license shall be permitted except with the consent of the Director of Finance, which consent shall be endorsed on the original license. The Director of Finance shall permit a transfer only when it appears that one (1) of the cars owned and operated by the licensee is retired, destroyed, demolished or otherwise rendered unfit for service.
(e) Upon a finding by the City of Hamilton Director of Finance that an extraordinary demand upon any special occasion requires the use of more low-speed for hire vehicles by any person, firm or corporation to whom there has been issued one (1) or more low-speed for hire license for the calendar year, the Director of Finance may issue special permits, valid for a period not to exceed twenty-four (24) hours, upon the payment of a fee of one dollar ($1.00) each for the use of additional vehicles which are duly licensed for the transportation of persons for hire and which carry public liability insurance satisfactory to the Director of Law.
