135.02 DUTIES OF DIRECTOR.
   (a)   It shall be the duty of the Director of Public Works to manage and supervise all public improvement works and undertakings of the City. He/she shall have charge of the construction, improvement, repair and maintenance of streets, boulevards, sidewalks, alleys, lanes, bridges, viaducts and other public highways as well as municipal parking facilities.
 
   (b)   The Director shall have charge of the making and preservation of all surveys, maps, plans, drawings and estimates for public work; of the cleaning and sprinkling of streets, boulevards, thoroughfares and public places, and of the preservation of tools, instruments, equipment and other property of the City pertaining to the Department of Public Works. The Director shall further have charge of all inspections pertaining to any construction in the public rights of way and of the granting of permits for the use of or encroachment upon the public thoroughfares of the City. He/she shall further perform all other duties pertaining to the Department of Public Works which may be required of him by Charter, ordinance of the City of Hamilton, statute and by the direction of the Executive Director of Infrastructure and the City Manager. The Director of Public Works shall report to the City Manager or his designee.
