129.03 CUSTODY OF PRISONERS.

   The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to enter into, and from time to time to renew, in the manner provided by law, a contract with any other city in the State providing for the care and custody of prisoners convicted of offenses under the Charter and ordinances of the City, and sentenced to imprisonment therefor, or to be imprisoned on account of failure to pay any fine or forfeit imposed by way of sentence, or failure to pay any costs assessed against such prisoner, or convicted and imprisoned for other offenses and for whose care and custody during imprisonment the City is responsible. The City Manager shall also provide for the prompt transportation of such prisoners to the city workhouse of such other city at the beginning of their terms, and for their return to the City of Hamilton of such of them as so desire at the expiration of their several terms of imprisonment.
