129.01 ESTABLISHED.

   (a)   There is hereby established a Department of Public Safety, to be controlled and administered by an Executive Director of Public Safety, or by the City Manager acting as such Director, subject to the provisions of the Charter.

   (b)   From and after the effective date of this legislation, any reference to "Director of Public Safety" in existing legislation, codified or uncodified, or any rules and regulations of the City of Hamilton or any other documents related to the functions and duties of said position shall be interpreted to mean the Executive Director of Public Safety provided the subject matter falls within the purview of the Executive Director of Public Safety or any Division under his/her direction.
