131.02.1 SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER SUPERVISORS.
   The City Manager, at his discretion, is hereby authorized to appoint individuals as special police officer supervisors to assist the Chief of Police in maintaining security for the Hamilton Municipal Court area and One Renaissance Center. Special police officer supervisors shall be temporary employees under the control of the City Manager and the Chief of Police, and shall be in the unclassified service of the City. In accordance with the provisions of Charter Section 12.02, special police officer supervisors shall serve for a specified period of time which shall not exceed six (6) months. Such supervisors may be reappointed by the City Manager to serve consecutive periods of time; provided, however, that each period of time does not exceed six (6) months.
   In the performance of their duties, special police officer supervisors shall supervise and shall be responsible for the proper performance of all subordinate officers with respect to maintaining security within the area of the Hamilton Municipal Court and all other areas of One Renaissance Center. Such supervisors shall also have the powers of a police officer in arresting persons for offenses in violation of any provision of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Hamilton and the laws of this State.
   Notwithstanding the provisions of the Codified Ordinances and in place of the existing provisions of the Codified Ordinances and any amendments thereto, special police officer supervisors shall be eligible to receive the same specific benefits for special police officers as set forth in subparagraphs (a) and (b) of Section , except as to those benefits described in Section 131.02(b)(3). In lieu of the benefits provided in Section 131.02(b)(3), a Special Police Officer Supervisor shall be eligible to receive medical and hospitalization insurance group coverage pursuant to Section 181.24(a).
