909.02 CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS.
   (a)    Forms. Forms for concrete sidewalk shall be of wood not less than two inches in nominal thickness or steel of equal rigidity. Curved forms must be approved by the Director of Public Works. The forms shall be securely held to line and grade and shall at no time deviate more than 1/4 inch from an accurate template ten feet in length. Forms shall be cleaned and oiled after each use.
   (b)    Traverse Slope. Unless otherwise specified, the surface of sidewalks shall have a traverse slope of 1/4 inch per foot with the low side adjacent to the roadway.
   (c)   Expansion Joints. Expansion joints shall be 1/2 inch and shall be placed in such a manner that the joint will be flush with the surface of the sidewalk and shall be constructed at intervals of not more than thirty feet. Whenever concrete sidewalks abut other walks, steps, curbs, manholes, inlets or adjacent building foundations, 1/4 inch expansion joint material shall be installed.
   (d)    Placing and Finishing. The concrete shall be deposited and compacted in a single course on a compacted surface. It shall be struck off with a template and smoothed with a wood float to produce a sandy texture. The edges shall be rounded to a 1/4 inch radius. The surface of sidewalk shall be divided into blocks by use of a grooving tool. The grooves shall be spaced equally at approximately four or five feet intervals to match the existing construction on the street.
   (e)   Clean-Up. After construction is completed, forms shall be removed and the void created therein shall be backfilled with soil to match existing conditions.
