905.01 GENERAL PROVISIONS.
Premises shall be numbered in either direction from the City meridian or the base line. For the purposes of this section a block shall include all the premises facing any thoroughfare between two intersecting streets or avenues, as the case may be. However, if two streets or two avenues are nearer together throughout the principal part of their length than 600 feet, or further apart than 600 feet, premises within the area affected by such irregularity shall be numbered in arbitrary blocks so as to conform substantially to the numbers given premises similarly situated in other parts of the City. Numbers up to 99 shall be used for premises within the first block in either direction from the City meridian or from the base line, and not parallel thereto; numbers beginning with 100 and thence up to 199 shall be used in the next succeeding block, and so on. Even numbers shall be used upon the northerly and easterly sides, and odd numbers on the southerly and westerly sides of the thoroughfares. (1931 Code §20.4610.)
