(A) No water shall be furnished to any building or structure during the period of construction unless a water meter shall have been installed on the premises to measure the flow of water to the said building or structure, or unless a fee, at the following monthly rates, shall have been paid to the Borough Secretary in advance of the furnishing of such service.
(1) For structures having a gross floor area of not more than 1,000 square feet, as shown in the application for a building permit: $25.
(2) For structures having a gross floor area of more than 1,000 square feet but not more than 5,000 square feet, as shown on the application for a building permit: $35.
(3) For structures having a gross floor area of more than 5,000 square feet, as shown on the application for a building permit: $50.
(B) In the event that the applicant for such water service desires to have a meter installed during the period of construction, he or she shall furnish a meter pit dug to specifications provided by the Borough Engineer, in order to protect the meter from damage by the elements or from construction work. Any water supplied shall then be paid for at the rate prescribed in this chapter.
