Pursuant to Government Code Section 36503.5, the City Council fixes the date of the statewide general election, to-wit: the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year (pursuant to Election Code Sections No. 2500 and 2501), as the date of the general municipal election within the City of Gridley and which otherwise would be held on the second Tuesday in April in each even-numbered year. The municipal election thereafter shall be conducted on the date of the statewide general election unless the ordinance codified in this section is later repealed by the City Council.
