§ 91.11 IMPOUNDING; CARE OF IMPOUNDED ANIMALS.
   (A)   (1)   Animals which are impounded pursuant to the provisions of this chapter shall be kept in the enclosure established as the city pound until redeemed or until otherwise disposed of as may be directed from time to time by the animal control officer.
      (2)   Cats that are known strays and appear to be feral are to be held for at least three days for redemption. All other animals shall be held for seven days for redemption. Animals with medical conditions may be disposed of as needed for the health and humane care and treatment of the animal and animals in the shelter.
      (3)   Any person seeking to redeem any impounded animal shall pay a fee as set out in § 38.01 of this code of ordinances.
   (B)   Animals which are kept in the city pound shall be humanely treated and fed; such pound shall be under the charge of the Chief of Police and/or animal control officer, who shall be responsible for the care and custody of the same. Unredeemed animals shall be disposed of as provided from time to time by the animal control officer.
