GRANGEVILLE CITY ORDINANCE NO. 973
   AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRANGEVILLE PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF TITLE 9 CHAPTER 2 SUBSECTION 17 (9-2-17) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF GRANGEVILLE TITLED PARKING RESTRICTED; PROVIDING FOR SIGNS TO BE POSTED FOR PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON CERTAIN CITY STREETS; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR THE ORDINANCE BECOMING EFFECTIVE UPON ITS PASSAGE, APPROVAL, AND PUBLICATION.
 
   BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRANGEVILLE, IDAHO COUNTY, IDAHO, AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1: Section 9-2-17 of the Grangeville Municipal Code shall be amended to read as follows:
 
PARKING RESTRICTED:
   To properly inform the public, appropriate signs shall be posted for the following parking restrictions:
 
A. Parking on Idaho Avenue, south from Elk Street to a point one hundred sixteen feet (116') south of the south curb line of Lincoln Street shall be allowed only on the east side of Idaho Avenue in such area;
B. From that point above described, which lies one hundred sixteen feet (116') south of the south curb line of Lincoln Street, parking shall be allowed only on the west side of Idaho Avenue, south to Madison Street;
C. Parking on the north side of West North 6th Street between the west side of Mill Street to the east side of Meadow Street shall be prohibited;
D. Parking on the north side of North Street between the west side of Florence Street and the east side of Myrtle Street shall be prohibited;
E. Parking on the east side of South C Street between West South 1st Street and Main Street shall be prohibited;
F. Parking on the south side of E South 1 st Street between Meadow Street to Mill Street shall be prohibited;
G. Parking on the west side of N Myrtle Street between Main Street and E North 4 th Street shall be prohibited;
FH. The City parking lot adjacent and north of City Hall and the Heritage Square parking lot shall have restricted public parking hours as follows:
   1. No motor vehicles, trailers, or parts thereof may be parked in the City Hall parking lot or the Heritage Square parking lot for more than twenty four (24) hours at one time.
   2. During snow periods, the twenty four (24) hour period may be shortened by the Chief of Police or his designee by posting appropriate signs educating the public as to the shortened parking periods then required by the weather.
   3. The Chief of Police or his designee may grant permission in writing to any person to exceed the twenty four (24) hour time restriction on an irregular basis, provided that the consent would not otherwise impede the City's need for any purpose including the parking of City vehicles.
 
Any person parking for longer than allowed under this subsection shall be guilty of an infraction and shall be fined as established in the master fee schedule for the first offense and for any subsequent offense.
 
   Section 2:   All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
 
   Section 3: This ordinance shall become effective upon its passage, approval, and publication in the Idaho County Free Press.
 
This ordinance passed under a suspension of the rule requiring three readings on separate days at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 4 th day of December, 2023.
