2-1-1: COMMISSION CREATED; MEMBERS:
   A.   Creation; Membership: There is hereby created a commission to be known and designated as the planning and zoning commission. Such planning and zoning commission shall consist of seven (7) voting members residing either within or without the city of Grangeville, but interested in Grangeville's welfare. The seven (7) members mentioned above shall be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council, and no longer shall one of the members of the commission be a city council person. Furthermore, one member of the planning and zoning commission shall be appointed as the area of city impact representative pursuant to section 10-9-7 of this code, as amended.
   B.   Terms Of Office: On the taking effect of this chapter, the mayor shall appoint one representative of the planning and zoning commission from the area of city impact to hold a three (3) year term. As to the other six (6) members, two (2) shall be appointed for terms of one year, two (2) shall be appointed for terms of two (2) years, and two (2) shall be appointed for terms of three (3) years respectively. Thereafter as the term of each member expires, the mayor shall fill vacancies for three (3) year terms. Any commissioner may be removed from office at any time by the mayor with the concurrence of a majority of the city council, except as it relates to the representative from the area of city impact when additionally, the concurrence of the county commissioners will likewise be required. Members of the board shall serve without salary but may receive their actual and necessary budgeted expenses while engaged in authorized business of the planning and zoning commission. Members that are appointed to fill vacancies shall be appointed so that their terms are staggered as herein required.
   C.   Clerk Of The Commission: The planning and zoning commission shall designate a person who shall be an ex officio clerk of the planning and zoning commission and keep its records and notify it of the filing of applications for permits and such other matters that shall come before the commission.
   D.   Meetings: When there is business to transact, the commission shall hold a meeting at least once each month, or more often, as the business of the commission requires. (Ord. 794, 12-5-2005)
