A. All solid waste except hot ashes shall be placed in authorized containers under the provisions of this chapter. Unless otherwise approved all solid waste shall be placed at the curb line (as defined in this chapter) in a manner whereby it may be easily seen.
B. Solid waste producers not abutting public streets or alleys shall permit access to the contractor for collection and disposal of solid waste placed in containers. (Ord. 777, 9-20-2004)
C. "Solid waste", as defined in this chapter, including "yard waste", which is defined as grass clippings, compost, leaves, and other tree parts or brush shall be placed in mechanical carts as defined in section 7-1-1 of this chapter. The use of mechanical carts, as defined in said section, are mandatory throughout the city for all solid waste, including yard waste.
Furthermore, in the event that any user of the solid waste system shall optionally desire an additional mechanical cart for excess yard waste, separate arrangements can be made with the solid waste contractor for an additional mechanical cart which will be separately identified as a yard waste container. The use of such optional container will allow the contractor an additional reasonable fee for the same and be available during any yard waste collection season set by the contractor in the future. D. Broken concrete, rocks, plaster, discarded building materials, trees, large tree limbs and other bulky waste may not be placed for collection as household waste.
E. Small tree limbs, when tied in bundles not over four feet (4') long and weighing less than forty (40) pounds, will be collected. (Ord. 777, 9-20-2004)
F. Dead animals or portions thereof placed for collection must weigh less than ten (10) pounds each and must be placed in a securely tied plastic bag, and then placed into the residential mechanical container.
G. Hazardous waste must be disposed of in a manner consistent with federal, state, and city regulations. Anyone needing to dispose of hazardous waste must contact the contractor. All fees and charges regarding hazardous wastes shall be the responsibility of the generator. The contractor may require a deposit from the generator prior to pick up of hazardous waste. Title to hazardous waste shall remain with the generator.
H. Infectious solid waste must be disposed of in a manner consistent with federal, state and city regulations. Such waste must be double bagged in securely tied plastic bags, inside clearly marked punctureproof plastic containers in a manner approved and placed by the public works superintendent and the contractor, who shall be notified by the producer of the fact that such waste is being placed for pick up.
