32-35   System Generally
Except as otherwise provided by this section, First Street shall be the dividing line for the numbering of lots, houses, and buildings upon the north and south streets; that is to say, lots, houses, and buildings on the north and south streets between First Street and Second Street shall constitute the one hundred block, from Second Street to Third Street, the two hundred block, from Third Street to Fourth Street shall constitute the three hundred block, from Fourth Street to Fifth Street the four hundred block, etc., north; from First Street to Division Street shall constitute the one hundred block, from Division Street to Koenig Street, the two hundred block, from Koenig Street to Charles Street, the three hundred block, etc., south.
Except as otherwise provided by this section, the numbers shall increase by two for each twenty-two feet. The even numbers shall be on the west side of the street and the odd numbers on the east side of the street, that is to say, the first twenty-two feet north of First Street on the east side of the street shall be number 101 and on the west side of the street, 102, and the second twenty-two feet north shall be number 103 on the east side and number 104 on the west side, etc.
In that section of the city lying west of Broadwell Avenue and north of the right of way of the Union Pacific Railroad Company, the road now known as the Lincoln Highway shall constitute a dividing line. From the Lincoln Highway to George Street shall constitute the one hundred block north, and from George Street to North Front Street the two hundred block, and from North Front Street to Fourth Street the three hundred block, one number as aforesaid for each twenty-two feet on each side of the street.
In that section of the city lying south of the road now known as the Lincoln Highway and north of the right-of-way of the Union Pacific Railroad Company, from the Lincoln Highway to Thorn Street shall constitute the one hundred block south, and from Thorn Street to the right-of-way the two hundred block south, numbered as aforesaid.
In that section of the City lying south of East Division Street and east of the Belt Line, the following shall constitute the numbering: From East Division Street to Sutherland Street shall constitute the two hundred block, from Sutherland Street to Groff Street shall constitute the three hundred block south, from Groff Street to Ashton Avenue as projected in Joehnck's Subdivision, shall constitute the four hundred block south, numbered as aforesaid.
On South Oak Street, South Vine Street, and South Plum Street, from East Division Street to East Koenig Street shall constitute the two hundred block south, and from East Koenig Street to Ashton Avenue the three hundred block south; on the three such streets between East Division Street and East Koenig Street there shall be one number for each forty-four feet instead of each twenty-two feet as in the rest of the City. In construing the terms of this section, Court Street shall constitute a part of Division Street.
In that part of the City lying north of East Ninth Street and east of the right-of-way of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Company between Ninth Street and Tenth Street and east of the St. Paul Road, from Ninth Street north to the north line of Lots Five, Six, and Seven, Pleasant Hill Addition, shall constitute the nine hundred block. From such point to Loan Street, the one thousand block; from Loan Street to Edgar Street, the one thousand one hundred block; from Edgar Street to Stanley Street, the one thousand two hundred block, etc., north.
