In addition to any other general qualifications that may by this Charter be made with respect to elected officials of the municipality, a councilman must be an elector of the Village, must have resided in the Village for not less than two (2) consecutive years prior to the beginning of the term for said Council position; and must reside in the ward from which he seeks to be elected at the time he files his nominating petition and at the date of his election. A councilman properly elected and qualified as such may continue to serve his term as a councilman even though after the date of his election or during his term he ceases to reside in the ward from which he was elected, provided that he continues to reside in the Village. There shall be no limit upon either the total number or the number of consecutive terms an individual may serve as councilman.
