139.14 FUNERAL LEAVE.
   (a)   In the event of the death of a member of a full-time employee's immediate family, defined as spouse, child, grandchild, parent, grandparent, sibling, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, father-in-law, mother-in-law, stepparent, stepchild, stepsibling, and any legal guardian who stands in place of a parent, eligible employees may be granted up to three (3) consecutive days funeral leave with pay upon approval of the Mayor and/or Department Head. If a funeral is on a Saturday, it shall not be a paid funeral day, except for Police officers if the Saturday is a regularly scheduled work day.
 
   (b)    Additional time off for bereavement or for an extended family member which is not a relative as defined in Section 139.14(a) may be available as sick time, vacation time, or leave without pay with the approval of the Mayor.
