The current edition of the National Electrical Code, as adopted in Section 1424.01, is hereby amended as follows:
NEC 210-71. Wall Switches.
New Section 210-71 is hereby added to read as follows:
At least one outlet controlled by a wall switch shall be provided for each habitable room, kitchen, toilet room and bathroom. A lighting outlet shall be provided at laundry trays, boilers, furnaces and other central heating devices. Three-way switches shall be provided for all "Walk Thru" rooms and stairways to control lighting outlets illuminating such stairways.
NEC 210-72. Number of Outlets Required on General Lighting and Small Appliance Branch Circuits of Dwelling Occupancies.
New Section 210-72 is hereby added to read as follows:
Not more than four receptacle outlets shall be installed on the required appliance branch circuits and not more than ten outlets shall be installed on the required general lighting branch circuits.
NEC 215-2. Minimum Rating and Size.
New subsection (c) is hereby added to read as follows:
(c) Minimum Requirement. Feeder conductors shall have a current rating not smaller than the feeder load, as determined in this Code. A 2-wire feeder supplying two or more 2-wire branch circuits shall not be smaller than No. 10 except as follows:
Exception No. 1. In a multi-family dwelling, each individual apartment shall be provided with not less than a 60-ampere capacity feeder. Where a feeder carries the total current supplied by the service entrance conductors, such feeder, for services of No. 6 and smaller, shall be of the same size as the service entrance conductors. When at anytime it is found that the feeder conductors are, or will be, overloaded, the feeder conductor shall be increased in capacity to accommodate the actual load served.
This subsection shall prevail in the event of a conflict between any of its provisions and another provision of this Code.
NEC 230-42. Size and Rating.
New subsection (d) is hereby added to read as follows:
(d) Minimum Requirement. Service entrance conductors shall provide a minimum of 100 ampere, 3-wire service, for all dwelling units, notwithstanding any other provision of this section.
NEC 230-79. Rating of Disconnect.
New subsection (e) is hereby added to read as follows:
(e) Minimum Requirement. For all dwelling units, the service equipment shall have a rating of not less than 100 amperes. Where multiple switches or circuit breakers are used in accordance with this Code, the service equipment shall provide a minimum of 100 amperes of connected overcurrent protection consisting of not less than two 60-ampere or two 50-ampere, 250-volt, 2-pole overcurrent devices. This subsection shall prevail in the event of a conflict between any of its provisions and another provision of this Code.
NEC 320-3. Uses Permitted.
The following sentence is hereby added:
Open wiring on insulators shall not be used in basements, cellars, storage spaces, garages or habitable rooms, or in any location of a dwelling occupancy that is not a concealed space.
