The Department of Police shall preserve the peace, protect persons and property and obey and enforce all ordinances of the City and all criminal laws of the State and of the United States. The Division shall also provide for the general welfare of the residents of the community and carry out other duties as prescribed by the Director of Public Safety. The authorized strength of the Department can be up to thirteen full-time police officers, including the Chief, up to fifteen part-time paid police officers, and sufficient members of the Auxiliary Police to carry out the purpose of the Department.
