The Humane Officer shall receive compensation in the amount of ten dollars ($10.00) for each complaint investigated, provided that if more than forty complaints per contract year are investigated, the total charge shall not exceed four hundred dollars ($400.00). In addition, the Humane Officer shall been titled to receive compensation of twenty-five cents ($.25) per mile traveled in his or her vehicle in connection with any such call or complaint.
