139.05 STATION FIREFIGHTER.
   (a)   There is hereby established the position of Station Firefighter for the City.
   (b)   The Station Firefighter position shall be an hourly position and reports to the Fire Chief and City Manager.
   (c)   The Station Firefighter shall be responsible for maintaining a personal presence at the fire station or with a fire truck, during scheduled working hours (40 hours) as determined by the Fire Chief and City Manager. He/she shall take the first truck to the fire scene and shall be in charge of the fire scene until a higher ranking officer arrives. The Station Firefighter is on duty eight hours a day five days a week, and may not leave his/her post without responsible relief to assume his/her duties. He/she is further responsible for the maintenance of all fire vehicles and equipment and shall keep the same in good condition. He/she is also to maintain the fire station facilities and grounds in good condition.
   (d)   The Station Firefighter may live in the quarters provided by the city rent-free. All utilities for the living quarters shall be provided by the City with the exception of long distance phone calls. The Station Firefighter will be responsible for their renters insurance.
   (e)   The Station Firefighter shall be granted the appropriate holidays, vacation and sick leave as scheduled in City ordinances with responsible relief to assume his/her duties during these times.
   (f)   The position of Station Firefighter and Fire Chief shall not be held by one person.
   (g)   The Station Firefighter will be paid straight time for any emergency runs made after regular shift hours.
   (h)   The position of Station Firefighter is an appointed position by the City Manager, subject to approval of the Gallipolis City Commission.
