3-3-1: PURPOSE; INTENT:
It is recognized that an increasing number of new types of home occupations are appearing daily and that many of these and some other more conventional uses possess characteristics of such unique and special nature relative to location, design, size, method of operation, circulation and public facilities that each specific use must be considered individually. However, there is a need to protect the integrity and character of residential areas. The home occupation regulations seek to balance the need of some individuals to work at home with rights of other individuals to enjoy the residential character of their neighborhood and their private property. Further, the purpose of the home occupation regulations is to protect the health, safety and welfare of neighborhood residents and the preservation of the neighborhood as a comfortable place for the people who live there.
