9-4-1: REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   Specified: On any construction where conventional footings or foundations are poured, in addition to any other requirement imposed by city ordinances or that part of the most recently adopted version of the IBC or the ISPWC, the following requirements shall apply. There shall be two (2) pieces of 0.4 rebar horizontally embedded the entire distance of the footings suspended at least three inches (3") from the bottom of the pour. There shall be two (2) pieces of 0.4 rebar horizontally embedded the entire distance of the foundation. Each piece of rebar lying horizontally shall overlap twelve inches (12") and shall be tied to the adjoining piece of rebar at the ends. One of the two (2) pieces of the horizontal rebar in the foundation shall be placed approximately three inches (3") from the top of the pour and the other piece of horizontal rebar shall be placed approximately three inches (3") from the bottom of the pour. There shall be one piece of 0.4 rebar embedded vertically on six foot (6') centers the entire length of the foundation. The vertical rebar in the foundation shall be tied to the horizontal rebar in the foundation.
   B.   Applicability: The requirement for placement of rebar shall apply in all footings and foundations which are poured along the perimeter of any structure or which are poured to support interior walls or exterior projections. (1984 Code § 4-7-1; amd. 2014 Code)
