8-1-11: ADDITIONAL REGULATIONS:
   A.   Sewer Areas, Downspouts And Drains:
      1.   Combined Sewers: In buildings located in areas served by combined storm and sanitary sewers, the following regulations are applicable:
         a.   Downspouts: All downspouts or roof drains shall discharge onto the ground or be connected to storm or combined sewers. No downspouts or roof drains shall be connected to the sanitary sewer.
         b.   Footing Drains: Footing drains shall be connected to sump pumps and discharge shall be made into storm sewers, combined sewers or drainage ditches. No footing drains or drainage tile shall be connected to the sanitary sewer. (Ord. O-6-71, 7-12-1971)
         c.   Transfer To New Storm Sewer: In the event that a separate storm sewer system is constructed in an area, all existing stormwater drainage systems (downspouts, footing drains, inlets/gutters, etc.) that currently discharge to the combined sewer system shall be directed to the new storm sewer within twenty four (24) months.
         d.   Separate Connection Provided: Any new construction or renovation of a building that discharges to the combined sewer system shall provide separate connections for domestic waste and direct stormwater inflow sources to facilitate disconnection, in the event that a storm sewer becomes available.       2.   Separate Sewers: In buildings located in areas served by separate storm and sanitary sewers, the following regulations are applicable:

   B.   Family Fallout Shelters:
      1.   Permit Required; Fee: No person shall construct a family fallout shelter upon private property unless a permit shall have been issued therefor. The permit shall be issued without fee to the applicant, provided the plans for said family fallout shelter in all respects comply with the standards set forth in this Code. (Village Code §§ 12-13, 12-17)
      2.   Application: Application for a permit required under this section shall be made to the Director of Public Health and Safety on forms provided by said Director. Such application shall be accompanied by plans and specifications subject to approval of the Director of Public Health and Safety and the Fire Chief. (Village Code § 12-14; amd. Ord.       3.   Construction: Family fallout shelters shall comply with the minimum standards set forth by the Office of Civil Defense and mobilization in publication designated as MP-15, dated June 1959, reprinted November 1960, and publication designated NP-10-2 entitled "Guide for Architects and Engineers" dated May 1960. (Village Code § 12-15)
      4.   Use: Family fallout shelter shall be used for the sole purpose of protection from fallout during a national emergency and for no other purpose. (Village Code § 12-16)
