1-5-4: RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   Elective Office: A person is not eligible for any elective municipal office unless that person is a qualified elector of the municipality and has resided in the village for at least one year preceding election. (Ord. O-6-99, 5-24-1999)
   B.   Appointive Office: No person shall be eligible for any appointive office except the village administrator and all department heads, including police chief, administrative assistant to the police chief, fire chief, captain of the fire department, director of public health and safety, community center director, and public works director, and those offices for which the law provides other residency requirements, unless that person is a qualified elector of the municipality or otherwise provided by law.    C.   Applicable Residency Requirements:
      1.   All employees of the village shall be residents of the state of Illinois. (Ord. O-25-05, 6-13-2005)
      2.   The residency requirements provided herein shall not apply to the village engineer, attorney or any other officer who, in the opinion of the village council, requires technical training, knowledge or experience.
      3.   The provisions of this section shall apply to all present officers of the village and to any persons elected or appointed by the village from and after the effective date hereof. (Ord. O-6-99, 5-24-1999; amd. Ord. O-25-05, 6-13-2005)
