The diversity commission shall consist of nine (9) members appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the village council. They shall serve a term of three (3) years except that initial appointees shall be staggered in such a manner so that two (2) members shall serve one year, three (3) members shall serve two (2) years and four (4) members shall serve three (3) years.
