§ 71.01 BICYCLE NUMBER PLATES.
   (A)   Unlawful to ride bicycle without plates. It shall be unlawful or any person, firm, copartnership, association or corporation, to operate, or cause to be operated, upon any of the streets or alleys within the town or to ride upon any bicycle, or to permit any member of his or her immediate family living in his or her home, and being under his or her care and supervision, to ride any bicycle upon the streets or alleys of the town without having prominently displayed thereon a number plate bearing a distinctive number assigned to such bicycle by the Town Clerk and without such bicycle being equipped with Scotch Light Tape for night driving in accordance with directions furnished by the state’s Highway Patrol.

   (B)   Renewal of plates. All number plates shall be renewed annually, and shall bear a distinctive marking each year and shall be furnished by the town. Such number plates and Scotch Light Tape shall be issued upon payment to the Town Clerk of the sum of $0.50 in cash.

§ 71.02 GOLF CARTS.
   (A)   The operation of golf carts is authorized between sunrise and sunset on the ways of the town open to the public. A GOLF CART means a motor vehicle that is designed for use on a golf course to carry a person or persons and golf equipment and that has an average speed of less than 15 mph. Persons operating a golf cart, as authorized herein, shall obey all traffic laws enacted by the state or the town, including, but not limited to, holding a valid driver’s license or low-speed restricted driver’s license issued by the state unless one of the exemptions contained in M.C.A. § 61-5-104 applies. As to Ellery Avenue, crossing only is authorized. All golf carts shall display the slow vehicle triangle sign on the back of the cart, as well as at least one and not more than two headlamps; at least one taillamp; at least one reflector; stop lamps; a horn; and a mirror that reflects to the driver view of the highway.
   (B)   Pursuant to M.C.A. § 61-9-420, each motor vehicle passenger who is under six years of age and weighs less than 60 pounds must be transported and properly restrained in a child safety restraint. The child safety restraint must be appropriate for the height and weight of the child as indicated by manufacturer standards.

§ 71.99 PENALTY.
   (A)   Any person violating any provision of this chapter for which no specific penalty is prescribed shall be subject to § 10.99 of this code of ordinances.
   (B)   Any person using or permitting a bicycle to be operated upon the streets or alleys of the town without having first paid the annual license fee therefor, and obtained and displayed thereon the number plate as required in § 71.01 of this chapter, and without having said vehicle properly Scotch-taped for night riding, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine of not less than $1 and not more than $10 for each offense, or by imprisonment in the town jail for not less than one day or more than five days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

   (C)   Any person who shall violate § 71.02 of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in § 10.99 of this code of ordinances.
