(a) For purposes of classification, all employees of the Police Division (except the Chief of Police and any seasonal, contract, temporary and part-time employees) shall be within the classified service of the City, subject to a one-year probationary period.
(1) All those employees who are classified pursuant to Ordinance 1982-78 shall continue in a classified status, and all those employees and all part-time positions filled by those persons who become part-time employees after December 19, 1983, shall be subject to the provisions of this section and shall be determined to be unclassified employees.
(b) The position of Chief of Police and Administrative Secretary shall be designated as unclassified service; the positions of Lieutenant and Records Custodian shall be designated as civil service, but outside of the bargaining unit.
