238.01   COMPENSATION AND TABLE OF ORGANIZATION.
   (a)   The Composition and Table of Organization of the Division of Police shall be as follows:
      (1)   One Chief of Police.
      (2)   Two Lieutenants.
      (3)   Four Sergeants.
      (4)   Eighteen full-time Police Officers.
      (5)   Intermittent officers as required.
      (6)   Part-time unclassified officers as required.
      (7)   One Records Custodian.
      (8)   One Administrative Secretary.
   (b)   The Division of Police Table of Organization is only for illustration purposes and is subject to Councilmanic funding.
   (c)   The Mayor or Safety Director shall have the discretion to create a temporary position at the supervisory level where circumstances warrant, such as where there is a temporary vacancy or an imminent vacancy in a supervisory position. The temporary position is to last no longer than a year unless Council approves a longer period or makes an additional position permanent. Said position must be filled pursuant to Civil Service rules and regulations and subject to any other requirements set forth in this chapter regarding the supervisory position to be filled. The person employed in the temporary position is to be paid at a level commensurate with the supervisory position.
      (1)   If the vacancy causing the temporary position to be created becomes permanent, the person serving in said temporary position may then be appointed to the permanent position in the Mayor's discretion without further competition for the position, if authorized by the Civil Service Commission.
