A. The mayor of the city, with the consent of the city council, may appoint as judge:
1. An attorney licensed to practice law in the state, who maintains a permanent office in the city;
2. If no such person receives approval of council, then an attorney licensed to practice law in the state, who resides in the county in which the city is located or in an adjacent county; or
3. Any suitable resident of the municipality. The mayor of the city may be designated as judge of the municipal court upon approval of the city council. (Ord. 82-7-1, 7-6-1982)
