No person shall, for compensation, engage in the business of housing, caring for, nursing or feeding invalids, children, aged persons or any individual adjudged or classified by any probate court of this State or competent medical authority as being mentally unsound, insane, a lunatic, imbecile or an idiot, unless a license is first obtained in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.
No license shall be required by an organization supported or maintained, in whole or in part, by any religious sect, charitable contributions, community fund or the United Appeal, and such organizations are exempt from the provisions of this chapter.
