Section 549.12 which prohibits the discharge of firearms within the corporate limits, shall not apply to any of the following:
(a) The firing of firearms by law enforcement officers in the performance of their official duties or during training.
(b) The firing of a military salute by a duly authorized person.
(c) The discharge of firearms by military personnel acting under military authority;
(d) The discharge of firearms by any person in the exercise of the right of self defense; or
(e) The discharge of a blank gun with a blank cartridge in connection with an organized sporting event.
