§ 32.001 AMOUNT OF BONDS FIXED.
   (A)   (1)   The following named public officials, officers, heads of departments and employees of the city shall file a public official bond, on an official form prescribed by the Commissioner of Insurance, endorsed to include faithful performance of the duties of office. The public official bond shall be fixed at the following amounts:
         (a)   City Clerk: $30,000 for each $1,000,000 of receipts of the officer’s office during the last complete fiscal year before the purchase of the bond, and may not be less than $30,000 nor more than $300,000;
         (b)   City Controller: $30,000 for each $1,000,000 of receipts of the officer’s office during the last complete fiscal year before the purchase of the bond, and may not be less than $30,000 nor more than $300,000;
         (c)   City Judge: $15,000;
         (d)   Corporation Counsel: $15,000;
         (e)   City Attorney: $15,000;
         (f)   City Engineer: $15,000;
         (g)   Chief of Police: $15,000;
         (h)   Chief of Fire Department: $15,000;
         (i)   Building Commissioner: $15,000;
         (j)   Cemetery Superintendent: $15,000;
         (k)   Electrical Inspector: $15,000;
         (1)   Airport Manager: $15,000; and
         (m)   Captains, Police matrons and other officers of the Police Department: $15,000.
      (2)   A copy of these bonds shall be filed in the Office of the City Clerk, the Office of the County Recorder of each official’s place of residence, and the Office of the Elkhart County Recorder, in the official bond record, after written approval by the Mayor.
   (B)   All appointed board members, commission members, pension fund officers or fiscal officers responsible for approving vouchers or payments shall file a public official bond fixed at not less than $15,000 prior to commencing the term of the appointment. These bonds shall be endorsed to include faithful performance of the duties of office, on official forms prescribed by the Commissioner of Insurance, and be approved in writing by the Mayor. A copy of these bonds shall be filed in the Office of the City Clerk, the Office of the County Recorder of each official’s place of residence, and the Office of the Elkhart County Recorder, in the official bond record.
   (C)   Pursuant to I.C. 5-4-1-18(b), the purchase of a blanket bond or a crime insurance policy is hereby authorized. Any such bond or policy shall be endorsed to include faithful performance of all public officials, employees, board and commission members and persons acting on behalf of the local government unit, including the City Judge, City Controller, City Clerk, Clerk-Treasurer and other employees, officers and officials directed to file a bond by this section.
