§ 94.105 SMOKE DETECTORS REQUIRED.
   (A)   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
      MULTIPLE-FAMILY DWELLING UNIT. Any building that contains living quarters for 2 or more occupancies, including hotels, motels, boarding houses, sleeping room houses and buildings of mixed occupancy and shall hereinafter be referred to as MULTIPLE DWELLINGS.
      LEASE, RENTAL, SINGLE OR MULTIPLE-FAMILY DWELLING UNIT. Any building that contains living quarters for 1 or more occupancies, including hotels, motels, boarding houses, sleeping room houses and any other buildings of mixed occupancy and shall hereinafter be referred to as LEASE, RENTAL, SINGLE OR MULTIPLE DWELLINGS.
   (B)   (1)   All multiple-family dwelling units, and all lease or rental, or single- or multiple-family dwelling units, motels, hotels, apartments and apartment houses, boarding houses, sleeping-room houses and any other buildings of mixed occupancy having any residential units shall be equipped with approved smoke detectors.
      (2)   The provisions of §§ 94.105 through 94.109 shall not be required in buildings which contain an approved automatic sprinkler system throughout.
