There is hereby created and established a police department, an operating department of the village. The police department shall consist of such full time and part time personnel and such other personnel as may be provided by the Mayor and board of trustees. The Mayor and board of trustees shall, from time to time, establish a list of authorized positions which shall be set forth in the classification plan as referenced and established in section 1-7-5 of this code.
