12-4-12: WATER SYSTEM:
   A.   Water Lines And Fire Hydrants: The developer shall install water lines and fire hydrants in accordance with the standards and specifications of this title and other applicable regulations. In no case shall the use of flexible PVC pipe or any rigid plastic with a wall thickness and strength of less than ASA standard schedule 40 be allowed.
   B.   Water Supply District: Action shall be taken by the developer to extend or create a water supply district for the purpose of providing a water supply system capable of providing domestic water use and fire protection. This system shall provide an adequate supply of potable water to every lot in the subdivision.
   C.   Installation Of Fire Hydrants: Fire hydrants shall be required for all subdivisions except those approved for low density zoning districts in which individual wells are to be used. Fire hydrants shall be located no more than six hundred feet (600') apart and within five hundred feet (500') of any structure. To eliminate future street openings, all underground utilities for fire hydrants, together with the fire hydrants themselves and all other supply improvements shall be installed before any final paving of a street shown on the subdivision plat.
   D.   Public Water Main Accessible: Where a public water main is accessible, the developer shall install adequate water facilities (including fire hydrants), subject to the specifications of state or city requirements. All water mains shall be at least six inches (6") in diameter.
   E.   Approval Of Water Main Extensions: Water main extensions shall be approved by appropriate government agencies.
   F.   Preliminary Plat; Improvement Bond: To facilitate the above, the location of all fire hydrants, all water supply improvements and the boundary lines of proposed districts, indicating all improvements proposed to be served, shall be shown on the preliminary plat, and the cost of installing same shall be included in the improvement bond to be furnished by the developer.
   G.   Use Of Water Wells: In subdivisions approved by the planning commission for low density zoning districts, if a public water system is not available, individual wells may be used or a central water system provided in such a manner that an adequate supply of potable water will be available to every lot in the subdivision. Water samples shall be submitted to the state health department for its approval, and individual wells and central water systems shall be approved by the state health department.
   H.   Arrangement For Future Water Service: If the planning commission requires that a connection to a public water main be eventually provided as a condition to approval of an individual well or central water system, the applicant shall make arrangements, including the provision of necessary easements for future water service at the time the plat receives final approval. Improvement or cash bonds may be required to ensure compliance. (Ord. 1-10-85, 1-10-1985, eff. 2-10-1985)
   I.   Locater Wires: Copper locater wires shall be placed at each meter and valve along all water lines. (Ord. 11-01, 1-11-2011)
   J.   Depth Of Lines: Lines shall be buried a minimum depth of thirty inches (30"). (Ord. 1-10-85, 1-10-1985, eff. 2-10-1985)
