16-1-260: UNAUTHORIZED WATER SERVICE:
A.   Prohibited: It shall be unlawful to provide oneself or others with, or make use of, water service from the City water system without authorization from the Public Works Department. When water service has been discontinued by the Public Works Department for nonpayment of water charges, noncompliance with these ordinances, or for any other reason, it shall be unlawful to restore water service by self-help or other means without authorization by the Public Works Department. Violation of this section shall be a Class B misdemeanor, punishable by fine, imprisonment, or both, as prescribed by applicable Statutes of the State of Utah.
B.   Plumbers: Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, in the case of leaks or other accidents damaging service pipes or other apparatus connected with the water system, plumbers or other qualified persons may shut off the water at the curb box to make necessary repairs, and turn on the water upon completion of such repairs without obtaining authorization.
